Caleta De Fuste

Caleta is a small and friendly resort, suitable for couples, families and visitors of all ages. It has a superb crescent shaped gently sloping golden sandy beach, a charming harbour and an abundance of bars and restaurants.

The bay is protected by man made breaks in the sea, and is thus a haven for water sports. At the same time, it's very safe for children.....and yes it's sand not volcanic gravel !!!

In recent years the resort has benefited from the development of a new commercial centre across the bay. This includes further shops, restaurants, a cinema and bowling alley. With 3 new hotels and enlarged sandy beaches the resort offers something for all visitors.

All the amenities outlined below, are within an easy walk of our house. Should you so wish - you can forget the car for a while.

The Old Lighthouse,

which looks out over the beautiful harbour, and which houses two excellent restaurants and a creperie.

The Harbour,

(Home to the glass bottom boat, the Oceanarium, and base for the deep sea fishing trips)

The Sheraton Hotel and Atlantico Commercial Centre can be seen across the bay in this picture.

Shops.

There are plenty of shops ranging from the "floating souvenir shop" in the harbour, to quality Jewellery shops in Caleta old town ... to the designer label shops in the Atlantico Centre.

If you fancy bartering - why not visit the Street Market which is in Caleta on a Saturday morning.

Bars and Restaurants
Plenty that cater for all requirements, be they quiet bars, sports bars. There are restaurants to cater for all tastes including Steak houses, Italian, Spanish / tapas, Indian, Chinese, Mexican etc etc. We have a list of our preferred restaurants at the house. (See helpful information section)

Entertainment
If you are looking for something inexpensive yet different, there are options. We have enjoyed some excellent evenings in the Barcelo Hotel (free entry) and enjoyed shows such as "Abba Night Tribute, Lion King, Blues Brothers, and Cabaret night

We have also been to "Pierros" (Free entry) and seen a brilliant Hypnotist, an excellent "Frank Sinatra / Dean Martin" show and taken part in "Play your Cards Right".

A number of singers appear in various other bars. In summary - it's there if you want it

DAYTIME ACTIVITIES

Caleta is blessed with plenty to do, with a range of activities to suit all age groups. To highlight just a few of these,

Oceanarium. Based at the harbour, this is well worth a visit and is a must for our younger visitors. Whilst down there, there are the usual harbour boat trips, including a day out excursion on catamaran. You can finish off exploring goodies in the floating shop, taking the opportunity to feed the surprisingly large fish. (www.subcat-fuerteventura.com)

Big game fishing is also available from the harbour with supposedly the opportunity to fish for Marlin between September and November. (Key details as per sea fishing)

Sea Fishing. Fishing tackle is available for hire should you wish to fish from one of the many positions on the rocks next to the coastal path. I'm told that whilst tuna is the most common, you can hook the occasional Barracuda. Our neighbour at No 40 Amuley Mar will give guidance.

Fishing in Rock Pools for our younger guests,. but we have spent many hours with our daughter fishing with nets on the beach or in the rock pools along the coastal path. (Don't forget some bread - or you will be there for ever without a catch). There are always fishing nets at our house.

Deep Sea Diving.

Experienced or a first timer, there is an excellent Diving School in Caleta, offering opportunities for beginners and advanced divers. Visibility due to the volcanic rock is exceptional, with plenty to see including wrecks, reefs and an abundance of marine life. Our friends Steve and Karen are closely associated with the Dive club, and would be happy to give guidance.
